Dear Friends & family
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your support & prayers through another medical setback. I make it through the brain surgery & not wanting to waste time on months of physical therapy & eager to regain my self from my brain surgery of 2001. I push the limits of what I had accomplished.
I can see now that I should have never trusted my left side, for it was still far too weak. I was trying not to crush Francis … (my blind, 18 year old cat) with my right foot & transferred my weight to my left foot. This caused me to fall & break my hip. It was a decision that that had to be made quickly. I lay on my Garage floor for over two hours until my neighbor heard me calling for help. He then called 911.
Trying to be humorous, I told the firemen & paramedics that everything in the garage is for sale in an up coming garage sale but for them it was 50% off, if they see anything they like. I also suffered a seizure on my birthday 2 days after being release, which brought them back.
So it was hey … I missed you guys … “Cake anyone?"
So, it’s back to months & perhaps a year to regain my walking abilities.
If anything, do not break your hip. After every thing I’ve been through. To break your hip is perhaps the most painful thing I’ve been through. I couldn’t get enough Morphine. I’m still taking medication for the pain & it’s still not doing the job even 5 weeks later.
I have decided to try my hand at writing, since I’ll be spending a lot of time in chairs … as in wheel chairs. I feel standing up could be hazardous to my health. I work much better in water. LOL!

Yesterday I had another Cat Scan to see if the Seizure of last Friday was caused by, or if the subdural humatoma had enlarged.
My seizure medication level is in normal range, but they added another Medication to what I was already taking to hopefully stop future seizures. I thought they couldn't get me any dopier but I was wrong. When you have to use spell check to get your name right, your lost.
I will not live like this & I will find a solution & I will be guided through this, I Know this.
I'm getting an M. R. I in November. Today I call the Neuro-surgery Department, & informed them, that I wanted to see them before my schedule date in January of 2008? I Plan to tell them if draining the fluid from my brain will give me better odds on less seizures then ... let's get this Dog & Pony Show On the Road. Get it? I Got it. Good!
If the Dog didn't stop to take a shit, he would have caught the rabbit.
I hope someone is taking notes.

Dear Friends,
Tomorrow I start physical therapy & hope they give me a wheel chair. I can hardly walk. My legs are weak.

Me & DR Skirboll, if you look close you can see the wisdom radiating out of his head. Yes, DR Skirboll thinks he's a Great Neurosurgeon, little does he know, I've done this before.
Like they say; Behind every Great Neurosurgeon...
is a Greater Patient.

Dear Friends,
The journey continues. The pain is less each day. I continue to improve. This has been a spiritual journey so, I intend to keep my thoughts Spiritual & concentrate on my surroundings to help heal mentally as well as well as physically. I spent the day walking at Alum Rock Park ... a place which brings back many Beautiful memories.
For those of you who care, I will keep you informed as to my progress. I also want you all to know, without all of you, I don't know if I could succeed.

Dear Friends,
Yesterday marked two weeks since I had my Brain surgery. I am very fortunate.
I will suffer only mild paralysis’s on my left side. This does ease my depression. There are so many unexplainable things I experienced.
I can only apply prayer to my fast recovery. I would like to thank all of you for theses prayers made in my name. I did sense & felt some easiness & lack of anxiety surrounding me. I knew it was all of you. I’m truly blessed to have such a list of people in my life.
Thank you all,
Cliff

I was transferred out of ICU & into a surgical wing for two days & was allowed to go home this last Tuesday. I did suffer a seizure at home on Wednesday, but Chad called 911 & took control like a young man, Wow, I'm so proud of him.
In some ways I feel worse & in others I'm well better off then the last surgery. Just have to put away all the stuff that breaks ... when you throw it at the wall ... like the wife's collectibles. lol. I know there's a reason for this journey, so let's see how it plays out.

The surgery went very well, Cliff has experienced very little paralysis! As his friend and webmaster, I want to thank everyone for their prayers. I am not a religious person but I do believe in a higher power and in the power of prayer. As I find out more I will post it here. I hope to visit Cliff in the hospital soon and will take my laptop with me so I can bring you updates directly from Cliff. Please continue to keep Cliff and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

June 7, 2007
Dear Friends,
I'm going to need your support and prayers. Over the last 6 years I’ve struggled to get back to where I was prior to the brain surgery of June 2001. I can at least walk & drive myself to the gym, which has been a great help.
On June 14, 2007, I will be faced with the same surgery. They want to remove, “something of interest” … in the same general area. I’m sorry to wait till the last minute, to inform you, but I’ve had a lot on my plate to deal with. I was also hoping it was a mistake.
I will be entering this with good thoughts & believe it’s just another hurdle in my life.
So on June 14th, at the V. A. Palo Alto hospital I will under go another Brain Surgery. On Friday I went to consult with the head Neurosurgeon at Stanford, who did my last surgery.
He was surprised at how much I have accomplished since then. He has made recommendations to the Head Neurosurgeon at the V. A. He doesn't want to see me go through what I did last time.
There has been a lot of new Science & ways to deal with this situation. I believe I will be much better after this one & not have to go through years of Physical Therapy. But just in case I hope you will be thinking of me, & perhaps offer a prayer in my behalf.
I plan to make it through another surgery. I even went to the dentist & had my teeth cleaned. I told them I don’t want to have Bad Breath when I’m in I. C. U. because they have some Fine looking Ladies there.
Whether you’re a friend, a family member, a Shipmate, Classmate, or someone I have worked with, You're All Very Dear to Me.
